Cerinthe major (Honeywort)
Cerinthe major (Honeywort)
I’ve been growing and saving seeds from this most beautiful foliage plant since 2014. Each season I take the time to stop and admire the intricate bells’ beautiful colours …the colours change from aqua through to teal blue, then cyan to jade, sapphire blue and azure.
It’s my FAVOURITE foliage of all time!
Waxy stems can grow to over one metre , which is impressive and part of the reason that I loved this foliage years before I ever considered a life of growing flowers & foliage commercially. The Cerinthe plants I’m offering are related to those very first seeds I was first given in 2014.
On the Bellarine you can plant Cerinthe all year round, and as the plants die off they drop large seeds which self-seed easily, turning this annual in a beauty that’s worth is weight in gold.
They love full sun and will let you know if they need a drink. With pithy stems, they respond well to a drink and can be fiddly when picking for a vase, so be sure to pick stems in the cool of the day and plunge straight into water.
Beautiful cut-foliage.
Perfect for a cottage garden.
They are rabbit-proof – so far good!
